BerlinIn the framework of this project, BVG will exchange bus data and bus operation experiences as a ‘Phase 0’ city without requesting any funding from the EC. Description BVG is responsible for public transport in the area of Berlin. It is a public transport company with a fleet of 1,320 buses, operating trams, underground trains and ferry lines within the Berlin area. BVG employs about 11,000 people. In its traffic network BVG serves ten underground lines, 32 tram routes, 161 day and 58 night bus lines and six ferries. BVG provides a round the clock public transport service in the city of Berlin. Relevant experiences BVG has a long track record of implementing projects related to the testing and demonstration of hydrogen as a fuel in public transport. The company has been working on a range of demonstration projects since 2002. These include the “Fuel Cell Bus Berlin, Copenhagen, Lisbon” project, the “Articulated Fuel Cell Bus” project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economy and the “Clean Energy Partnership Berlin (CEP)”.
