Frankfurt Hydrogen Filling Station
In Germany at the industrial park Höchst in the Rhein-Main region, a large amount of hydrogen (over 30 mil. Nm3/yr.) is available as a bi-product from a chlorine electrolysis plant. This hydrogen is cleaned and transported via a high pressure 1.7 km long transport line to the fuelling service station at the south entrance to the industrial park. For compressed hydrogen the service station has one dispenser each for 350 bar and 700 bar. The 350 bar dispenser is able to facilitate refuelling  for buses. The 700 bar dispenser is equipped with an infra-red communication system between the dispenser and the vehicle in accordance with Release A standard of SAE. This provides quick fillings for 700 bar FCV tanks in 3 minutes for about 5 kg of hydrogen. The service station in Höchst has also a dispenser for liquid hydrogen which is trucked-in and stored in a tank at the station. The Agip fuelling station supplies hydrogen, in the same way fuel stations supply gasoline and diesel. The existing station is suitable also for filling buses. Frankfurt city, represented by Infraserv – operator of the industrial park Höchst, in phase 2 cities of CHIC, intends to install a second station in Frankfurt downtown area. [...]
