Visit the UITP exhibition and discover more on the CHIC fuel cell buses! 26 May - 30 May, 2013
This year, the 60th UITP World Congress and Mobility & City Transport Exhibition is taking place on 26-30 May in Geneva. The International Association of Public Transport (UITP) is a global network of nearly 3 400 public transport professionals from more than 92 countries and represents urban and regional passenger transport operators, authorities and supplying and service industry, as well as a broad range of other mobility actors. Visitors will have the opportunity to visit the fuel cell hydrogen buses participating in the Clean Hydrogen In European Cities (CHIC) project. PostAuto who has been operating the 5 hydrogen buses since 2011 in and around Brugg (Switzerland) will be showcasing the technology at this main international exhibition. A CHIC Student Day is planned on 27 May (between 10:00-12:00 am) at PostAuto’s stand to inform a group of students on the bus operations and infrastructure developped within the project. The project is co-funded by the EU’s Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU). Furthermore, visitors will also have the opportunity to hop on a CHIC fuel cell bus at the exhibition’s hall 2. Register here and receive a free pass!

Oslo Student Day 2013 3 May - 3 May, 2013
The Student Day will be held at The Norwegian University of Life Sciences (http://www.umb.no/english) Friday 3 May at noon (12.00).  The University is the nearest University to the bus depot at Rosenholm. The Student Day is held in a corporation between Ruter and the Student Association for students at Environmental Physics & Renewable Energy. The Student day will start at the University Campus (IMT Institutt for Matematisk realfag og Teknologi, TF fløy 3)  with som presentations (Some food & drinks will be available): Presentation of the (Oslo) CHIC project by Ove K Kjølstad, Ruter. Presentation of HyNor Lillestrøm Project & Akershus County Hydrogen Strategy by Jan Carsten Gjerløw, HyNor Lillestrøm AS. Presentation of HYOP by Ulf Hafseld, HYOP It will then be a possibility to test a fuel cell car & fuel cell bus. At 14.00 the fuel cell bus will take interested students to the Rosenholm bus garage to see Hydrogen Refuelling Station by Kelly Coverdale, Air Liquide Norway Hydrogen Workshop by Svend E. Wandaas, Ruter Fuel Cell bus by Tom Rismyhr & Eva Schnell-Goto, Unibuss before returning to the University Campus. The Student Association have established a Facebook group for the event in Norwegian https://www.facebook.com/events/326424794153733/

World Economic Forum 2013 going greener with CHIC fuel cell buses January 28, 2013
On 22 Janaury 2013  the World Economic Forum opened its gates to the big, bright and beautiful demonstrating  to discuss the need for “Resilient Dynamism”, this year’s theme. Resilient and dynamic proved the very special shuttle service that Postauto provides for all participants as well as Davos regualr dwellers: two CHIC fuel cell buses on a 20-minute route across town are the proof that this technology is ready for -16C and less than 5 km/hrs  heavy traffic. HyER spent an afternoon in the buses with Nikoletta Seraidou, Postauto expert coordinator for the project. On 22 January 2013, WEF father Schwab and his wife admired the buses in front of the main event hall. Mr Klaus Schwab was immediately enthusiastic when Postauto and HyER apporached the WEF last year with the idea to use the CHIC fuel cell buses during the event. The buses were in operation all week (22-27 January) which was a great occasion to test the buses further in colder and higher altitude areas. Passengers appreciated the presence of greener technology on the Davos streets during the WEF as the resort is flooded with conventional transportation such as limousines and helicopters… Listen here to the radio interview with PostAuto’s Nikoletta Seraidou  on [...]

Taking the red line to Oslo’s national theatre emitting only water May 31, 2012
On May 30, Ruter the Oslo transport authority welcomed the 5 CHIC Oslo fuel cell hybride buses to Oslo in stylthe e with a grand fanfare and a hilarious comedian who sweeped to crowd to “embrace” the new clean buses and the state of art refueling station full of green hydrogen. The buses will be servicing a 15 min trip each way to the national theatre in Oslo. The Norsk Hydorgen Forum invited to dignitaries to a conference afterwards presented its strategy to develop Norway into a world leader im the development of a sustainable hydrogen infrastructure involving  more SME’s. Paul Jenné, responsible manager for fuel cell bus supplier Van Hool, indicated that Oslo saw a primeur of having the first three axe fuel cell buses in the world. Xavier Vigor ,CEO Air Liquide Advanced Technologies, who is responsble for the hydrogen refuelling station at the Ruter depot, referred to Air Liquide’s objective to ensure that its hydrogen production will be50 % sustainable in 2020.  With the upcoming launch of Swiss Postauto buses CHIC fuel cell hybride bus roll out is well under way! The Region of Akershus who co-financed the buses recently joined HyER.
