Video: Green buses for European Cities May 9, 2013
Green buses in European Cities - Zero emission buses have been integrated in a number of European Cities to decarbonise transport. Hydrogen fuel cell buses contribute to the decarbonisation of public transport. This video features 5 hydrogen fuel cell buses have been operating in Oslo since last May, within the framework of the Clean Hydrogen In European Cities (CHIC) project. The project is co-funded by the EU’s Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU). The buses in Oslo have been supplied by European  manufacturer Van Hool. This video was produced by the European Commission and presented during the SET Plan Conference on 8 May 2013. BBC broadcast: London’s experience with hydrogen fuel cell bus March 19, 2013
BBC ‘s Lesley Curwen visited a hydrogen-powered London bus and talked to Ali de Napoli of Transport for London about the benefits of the technology. The buses have been operating over three years now on the main RV1 route within the framework of the EU co-funded Clean Hydrogen In European Cities (CHIC) project. The project is co-funded by the EU’s Hydrogen Fuel Cell Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) programme. Click here to listen to the broadcast.

Oslo fuel cell buses in ordinary operation March 12, 2013
The 5 fuel cell buses in Oslo (13 meter) will start ordinary operation from 7 April 2013 and gradually increase to a full operation. The main operation will be at the bus lines 81 A (Oslo – Greverud) and 81 B (Oslo – Ødegården) between Oslo City Centre and the Kolbotn area. The FC buses will operate on these lines 7 days a week when the buses are in full operation. On these lines there are normally 15 meter diesel buses in use. The fuel cell buses will not operate on these lines during the morning peak hours during week days.  Instead the fuel cell buses will operate on lines 79 (Holmlia – Grorud) and 80 (Holmlia – Åsbråten) in Oslo during the morning peak hours on week days. On these lines there are normally operating 12 meter biogas buses.

Bolzano presents the CHIC project January 31, 2013
On 13 December 2012, Marlene Rinner, project manager for the EU co-funded Clean Hydrogen In European Cities (CHIC) project presented the project at the conference “Energia e idrogeno: L’esperienza italiana nel programma europeo idrogeno e celle a combustibile in Milan. The event was organised by the Italian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (H2It) in collaboration with FAST (Federazione delle associazioni scientifiche e tecniche). 5 Hydrogen fuel cell buses will be in operation in Bolzano within the second half of this year.

World Economic Forum 2013 going greener with CHIC fuel cell buses January 28, 2013
On 22 Janaury 2013  the World Economic Forum opened its gates to the big, bright and beautiful demonstrating  to discuss the need for “Resilient Dynamism”, this year’s theme. Resilient and dynamic proved the very special shuttle service that Postauto provides for all participants as well as Davos regualr dwellers: two CHIC fuel cell buses on a 20-minute route across town are the proof that this technology is ready for -16C and less than 5 km/hrs  heavy traffic. HyER spent an afternoon in the buses with Nikoletta Seraidou, Postauto expert coordinator for the project. On 22 January 2013, WEF father Schwab and his wife admired the buses in front of the main event hall. Mr Klaus Schwab was immediately enthusiastic when Postauto and HyER apporached the WEF last year with the idea to use the CHIC fuel cell buses during the event. The buses were in operation all week (22-27 January) which was a great occasion to test the buses further in colder and higher altitude areas. Passengers appreciated the presence of greener technology on the Davos streets during the WEF as the resort is flooded with conventional transportation such as limousines and helicopters… Listen here to the radio interview with PostAuto’s Nikoletta Seraidou  on [...]

Hydrogen fuel cell bus receives Swiss energy Watt d’Or award! January 11, 2013
On the occasion of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy’s New Year’s event that was held on 10 January 2013 in Bern, the PostBus company - partner in the EU co-funded Clean Hydrogen In European Cities (CHIC) project - was awarded with the Swiss energy Watt d’Or award from the Federal Office for Energy. PostBus has been deploying five hydrogen hydrogen fuel cell buses for over a year now  in and around Brugg (Switzerland), contributing to sustainable mobility. The pilot project expects to significantly reduce CO2 emissions in five European cities (London, Aarau, Oslo, Milan, Bolzano). PostBus is committed to make their energy consumption  efficient and environmentally friendly. “This project proves Postbus its competence to adopt new technologies in transport” said Daniel Landolf Member of the Executive Committee and Head of PostAuto. EcoDolomites 2012 video features H2 Road Tour November 26, 2012
On 19-22 September 2012 the H2 Road Tour stopped in Bozen/Bolzano, the only stage in Italy, before moving to Paris. On 19 September the IIT, Institute for Innovative Technologies LTD, responsible for the hydrogen refuelling station in the Clean Hydrogen in European Cities (CHIC) project, hosted the opening event at the new hydrogen production plant in Bozen/Bolzano. On 20-22 September the H2Road Tour participated at the KlimaMobility Fair. Visitors performed test drives there with the seven fuel cell cars. The H2Road Tour concluded the stage by participating at the EcoDolomites, a tour over the four most famous pass-roads (Campolongo, Pordoi, Sella, Grödnerjoch) in the Dolomites, UNESCO World Natural Heritage since 2009. The H2 Moves Scandinavia project will officially be completed next month. Watch  here the video from the event which gives an overview of the project results.

Czech press reports on the CHIC hydrogen fuel cell buses November 7, 2012
The operation of the yellow hydrogen-powered buses of the Swiss PostAuto company attracted the interest of the Czech press earlier this month. The buses are running within the framework of the EU-cofunded Clean Hydrogen In European Cities (CHIC) project. “Vehicles are gathering at the train station in Brugg, where you start off at regular intervals on your route. Buses linked to all connections suburban S-Bahn trains, running from Zurich, but also express trains that connect Basel with Zurich. Vehicles can drive the LH2 on one filling of up to 250 kilometers without emitting harmful emissions,” reads the article. Read the article in Czech here.
